Program Description

Gannon University’s finance program intends to provide students with the foundation knowledge, skills, and abilities to pursue their career goals. The Dahlkemper School of Business graduates in finance will have knowledge of financial accounting, financial management, financial markets, and financial theories. In addition, students will have the skills necessary to define and solve financial problems. They will have the ability to articulate financial problems and pose appropriate solutions with an understanding of the limitations of possible solutions. Lastly, students will have the ability to deal with the inherent risks in finance.

Upon graduation, finance majors from the Dahlkemper School of Business should have a strong academic foundation in finance. The academic foundation should allow graduating finance majors to enter a professional career in finance, enter a quality graduate program in a variety of business fields, or seek further professional certification in finance. Examples include Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Financial Manager (CFM), and Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA).

The following courses, 21 credits, must be completed to satisfy the requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Finance:

Apply finance knowledge, the principles and techniques of time value of money, and computational tools necessary to value real and financial assets.
