Lit for Young Adults
Course Description
This course is a study of distinguished literature for young adults and of the historical development and current trends in adolescent literature. You will learn how young adult literature supports young adults' (ages 12-24) mental, emotional, and spiritual needs, adolescent development, and wellbeing. This includes how young adult literature is selected for and excluded from school curriculums, public libraries, and the bookseller/publishing industry. Specific novels and course texts may vary by semester. This course satisfies the Wellness requirement of the Core Curriculum. The prerequisite for this course is ENGL 101.
