Diversity Issues in CRJS

Course Description

This course analyzes various issues related to the intersections of gender, race, class, crime and the administration of justice in the United States and other countries. The course focuses on overt, institutional, and subtle racism; gender and class bias; and structural discrimination as well as the relationship of all of these phenomena to social justice. The course examines critically cases that illustrate how gender, race and class influence participation in crime and how the criminal justice system processes members of groups who experience discrimination on the basis of their gender, race and/or class.
